Lois R. Preston

Lois Ruth Preston, aged 85, died peacefully on July 2nd, 2015 in Indianapolis, IN. Lois was born March 22, 1930, in Fayette County, IN, to James and Mildred Sparks. She graduated from Carthage High School. Lois then studied nursing at Ball State University where she met and married Bennie Lee Preston, an engineer, in 1956. Later, Lois received her BS from Butler University. She was also a graduate student at Butler. Lois thoroughly enjoyed teaching, gardening, cooking, sewing, and writing short stories for classroom illustrations. Church was always an important part of her life. Lois was preceded in death by Bennie in 2004 and their 8-year-old son, Mark, in 1970. Both lost their lives to cancer. Lois is survived by her sons, Robert and Thomas, her daughter, June, and son-in-law Mike, her grandchildren, Roberto, Ryan and Zion Preston, and Joshua and Ethan Brown, her siblings, June and Don, and many nephews and nieces. Lois's life will be celebrated in a private family service at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN., on Friday July 10th at 1:00 pm.
