Lois Jean (Frederick) Tandy passed away on June 27, 2023, in a very peaceful manner surrounded by loving family. She was born on February 18, 1935, to Homer and Ethel Frederick. Lois had two siblings, Ralph Frederick and Jane Falconbury who predeceased her. She grew up in the Indianapolis area and graduated from Howe High School. She met the love of her life Richard Tandy when she was sixteen. After a brief courtship, they married on April 6, 1953. They were married for sixty-seven years when Richard passed away on his 90th birthday on April 25, 2020.

Richard and Lois had two sons, Dr. James Tandy (Connie, deceased) and Jack Tandy (Kim). They had eight grandchildren: Jamie Daming, Joshua Tandy, Jacob Tandy, Jordan Tandy, Luke Tandy, Abby O’Connor, Nathan Tandy and Oliver Brooks. They had sixteen great grandchildren.

Lois was a stong Christian woman. Her faith was very important to her. She attended church faithfully for many years including Burge Terrace Baptist Church, Englewood Christian Church, Buck Creek Christian Church and Indian Creek Christian Church. She played the piano and sang in the choir. She stayed at home raising Jim and Jack, but later worked as a reading tutor for the Indianapolis Public Schools. She took great joy in helping young people read.

Dick and Lois moved to assisted living at Magnolia Springs Southpointe in March 2019. While reluctant to go to assisted living at first, they made new friends and enjoyed their time at Magnolia. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Magnolia for making a warm home environment for Dick and Lois. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at Community South Hospital, especially Rachel, for the care and love shown to Lois in her final days.
