Lloyd L. Taylor
Surrounded by family at home, Lloyd L Taylor, 95, of Zionsville entered into Eternal Life on March 22, 2014. He was born on March 12, 1919 in rural Lawrence County, Indiana to Wes and Ruth Ida (Mosier) Taylor, who preceded him in death. Lloyd served his country during World War II as a Flight Instructor in the United States Army Air Corp.
Lloyd is survived by his wife and one true love, Martha Jane (Reuter) Taylor, whom he married on May 7, 1944. He is also survived by his 3 children: Stephen L. (Elizabeth) of Indianapolis; P. Douglas (Sharyn) of Zionsville; and Nancy C. (Michael) Thayer of Zionsville. He is survived by two grandchildren: Natalie J. (Scott) Kruger of Zionsville and Dean M. (Kate) Thayer of Zeeland, Michigan and 7 great-grandchildren: Brandon, Sydney and Adam Kruger of Zionsville and Rebekah, Luke, Norah, and Josh Thayer of Zeeland, Michigan.
Lloyd founded Taylor Oil Company in 1948 in Zionsville, and faithfully reported to work every day until age 92. He was a role model and mentor in business to many people in the community and surrounding counties, but especially to Jeff (Benita) Thomasson and Lloyd's many faithful employees at Taylor Oil. Lloyd's integrity and devotion to family have provided a lasting legacy for many.
Lloyd was a 50+ year member of Charles F. Frank Lodge 760 and American Legion Post 79. He was also a dedicated member of the Zionsville Cemetery Board, and contributed significantly to its upkeep and restoration as a way to serve his community.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Tendercare Home Health Services and St. Vincent Hospice for their dedicated and professional care during Lloyd's confinement at home.
Calling for Lloyd will be Monday, March 24, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan-Zionsville. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 25 at 11 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church, 6701 S. 800 E. (Kissel Road), Zionsville, with calling there from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Zionsville Cemetery, where a section has been named in Lloyd's honor.
