Lloyd Lewis Farmer

Lloyd L. "Lew" Farmer, Jr. Of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2012. He was born in Beckley, West Virginia on March 1, 1944. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1981 retiring as a Sergeant First Class. He served two tours in Vietnam (one with the 1st Infantry Division and the other with the 1st Aviation Brigade). He received the Army Commendation Medal, two Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge and Good Conduct Medal. After retirement from the Army, he was employed at WFYI, Channel 20 in Indianapolis. He attended Ivy Tech and ITT Tech and held degrees from Vincennes University and University of New York. After retirement from Channel 20, he was a wood craftsman for many years. He was a member of Mystic Circle Masonic Lodge of Lawrence, served as Demolay Dad and was on the Council for Jobs Daughters. He was a member of the Shadeland Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol J. Farmer and is survived by his four children, John Farmer, Lloyd Farmer, III, Marianne Garza and Angela Johnson, five stepchildren, Robert Smith, Janet Lybrand, Edward Kett, Mark Kett and Joyce King as well as 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan - Washington Park East , 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2012 in Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.
