CMS LLOYD DALE GLORVIGEN SR.
Lloyd Dale Glorvigen, CMSgt (Ret USAF) died January 12, 2015 at Morningside Assisted Living in Indianapolis, IN. Born February 25, 1922 to Charles and Jane Glorvigen in Fergus Falls, MN. Attended Washington High School and graduated in 1940. On July 4, 1940 he enlisted in the US Air Corps and attended an Aircraft and Engine School at Chanute Field in IL. In June of 1942 he married Dolly Adelaide O'Hara of West Point, MS. He served during WW2, the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He served 14 years in Strategic Air Command with assignments to England, Japan and Goose Bay, Labrador in a Fighter Interceptor Squadron. In 1959 he was one of the first Master Sergeants in the Strategic Air Command to be promoted to the new rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was proud of his military service and of being one of the original Charter Chiefs. He retired from the military in 1966 and returned to Fergus Falls, MN where he started a TV repair business. In 1977 Lloyd and Dolly retired to Gulf Port, MS where he continued to work part-time in TV repair. He also enjoyed sailing and building ship models. In 2005 when hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast Lloyd and Dolly evacuated to safety and ultimately moved to Indianapolis, IN. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Dolly; daughters, Jane O'Hara, Paula Thorsen & Darlene Kimball ; sons, Michael & Dana; sister Delores Johnson, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents; Charles and Jane Glorvigen; son, SMSgt Lloyd Dale Glorvigen Jr.; sister, Marion Cassel; brother, Charles Glorvigen Jr. and granddaughter, Debra Glorvigen.
