Lloyd A. Pottenger, Jr. 87, of Indianapolis, passed away, Friday, April 22, 2011. He was a retired Agent for State Farm Insurance and former co-owner of Pottenger Nursery and Landscape Company. He was a veteran of WW II and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of Seventh and Eighth United Christian Church, Optimist Club, Murat Shrine, North Park Masonic Lodge 646, and the American Legion. He was a 1950 Graduate of Eureka College, Eureka, IL. Survivors include his wife Nancy J. Grieme Pottenger, children; Garry L. (Constance) Pottenger, Terry A. Pottenger, Connie J. Pottenger, grandchildren; Mark (Angela) Land, Andrew, Stephanie, Amy and Megan Pottenger, great-grandchildren; Alyssa, Avery and Reece Land, sister-in-laws; Ellen and Marjorie Pottenger. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Seventh and Eighth United Christian Church, 2916 W. 30th Street, Indpls. Services will be Thursday at 2 pm with calling one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow at Washington Park North Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Seventh and Eighth United Christian Church General Fund. Arrangements handled by Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Speedway.
