Linzie Leroy Stovall

March 27, 1955 — September 3, 2010

Linzie “Rit” Leroy Stovall A native of Indianapolis, Indiana left us to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, September 3, 2010 at Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center n Indianapolis. Linzie was the second son born to Linzie Leroy Stovall and Mildred Wardossa Rose on March 27, 1955. Linzie attended St. Rita’s School and Indianapolis Public School elementary and junior schools. He was a graduate of Shortridge High School where he excelled in art and wood designing. While in high school, he received his nickname “Rit.” Linzie loved collecting comic books as well as drawing some of his favorite cartoon characters – i.e. Thor, Fantastic Four, Green Hornet, Aqua Man, Flash. After high school, Linzie enlisted in the United States Army on October 12, 1973. He served his country during Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge October 8, 1976. He later pursued his college education at the Indianapolis branch for IVY Tech and graduated with an Associated Applied Science, Industrial Management Technology degree in 1979. He worked as a Records Clerk for Finance Center at Fort Benjamin Harris for a number of years and later was a Groundskeeper for the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Linzie was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, cousin, father, and grandfather who had a zeal for life. He was an avid jazz enthusiast and enjoyed reading novels, spending time with his family and watching movies. His Father, Linzie L. Stovall and his maternal Grandmother, Mary Campbell precedes him in death. His mother, Mildred Stovall and siblings – Chancellor (Mary) Stovall, Pearl (Roderick) Stovall-Davis, Al (Valerie) Stovall, Josephine (Ernest) Newborn, and Julius (Marjorie) Stovall survive him. He is also survived by his son, Frederick (Andrea) Stovall grandchildren, Frandresca, Frederick Jr., L’Amora, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, cousins and cherished friends. Our beloved brother, Linzie will be deeply missed by all his family members and friends. Yet, he will always be remembered lovingly as having great courage and wit in the midst of the trials he endured.
