Linda Paulette Stanfield

October 17, 1951 — December 22, 2023

Indianapolis

Linda (Donovan) Stanfield, 72, passed away while being comforted by family on December 22, 2023. Linda was born to Claude Joseph Donovan and Betsy Donovan on October 17, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Linda started her adult life as a young mother of four. While working and caring for her family she always made sure everyone was taken care of. She worked in a factory, and after several hours on her feet during the day she would go home in the evenings, cook, clean, and take care of her children.

In 1982 Linda met the love of her life, Danny. They were married 30 years and together they had an amazing life, always making time for each other. After 20 years of working in the factory at Precision Machine and the children grown, she pursued her career as a 911 dispatcher at Hendricks County Communications Center, where she retired with 25 years of service. After retiring and still continually active, Linda decided to work at Lowes part-time and enjoyed the comrade she found in the other employees.

On her off time, Linda loved gardening and yard work. She would say it was good for her soul to be busy in the yard. She had a green thumb and would buy plants on clearance and bring them back to life. She used to say “that is the hazard of the job” working at Lowes, with a big smile. Linda was a huge fan of the Indy 500, attending over 30 years. She would always buy her “1” bloody mary and spill it, this became a tradition.

Linda was kind and compassionate, she never forgot what it was like to have nothing. She was always helping anyone who came in her path. Linda never forgot a date of any occasion. Her children would call her “Rain Man” as she could rattle off birthdays, wedding dates, and any other event which happened in the family.

Linda had a way about her. As a mom, she taught responsibility with a side of “no nonsense,” and right from wrong with no excuses. As a grandmother, she was always there full of love and kindness. As a great-grandmother all the rules went out the window and it was more about hugs and kisses. Her determination and strong-will carried her through many hard times, but her family was everything to her.  She was loyal to the core and would put anyone in their place, if need be, then in her own way would let you know it was all because she cared.  She was very independent, hard-working, and dedicated to her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude, and Betsy Donovan; her late husband, Danny Stanfield; and her brother Claude Joseph “Joe” Donovan.

She is survived by her children Edward Landon Adair “Lil Ed” (Debbie), Candace Sue Brezko “Candi”, Shannon Joseph Adair (Belinda), Tammy Michelle Adair (Becki); Grandchildren Brittnay Steinberg (Ben), Kaitlin Wolf (Jonathan), Tyler Adair, Carlie Adair, Zachary Nelson (Gabbie); Great-grandchildren Aramis Steinberg, Levi Nelson, Aurora Steinberg, Evie Adair; Sisters Barbara Shirles (Wayne), Pam Sheperd (Larry).
