Linda K. Coffman Gilliam Simpson, 76, spent more than two decades in Plainfield, Indiana, but her story began in Indianapolis, where she grew up surrounded by the family who shaped her and the faith that carried her through life. In 1965, she married her one true love, Leonard E. Gilliam, and together they built a family rooted in devotion, hard work, and deep affection. Their three children — William, Richard, and Rebecca — were the center of her world.
Linda’s faith was the quiet, steady thread woven through every chapter of her life. She loved reading her Bible, and for many years she was a familiar face at Plainfield Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school with a gentle joy, sharing God’s love with children in a way that made them feel seen and cherished.
She worked tirelessly for many years and retired from Carrier Corporation in 2016, carrying with her the same determination and grace she brought to every part of her life. Linda remained close to her siblings — Beverly, Vickie, Lenny, and Larry — bonds that stayed strong across the years.
Her greatest earthly joys were her grandchildren — Lindsey, Brooke, Jerry, Cheyenne, Brianna, and Arianna — and her ten great‑grandchildren, each one held dearly in her heart. She loved them with a warmth that never dimmed.
Even in her hardest moments, Linda’s faith never wavered. She held fast to her beliefs, trusting in God’s promises with a devotion that inspired everyone who knew her.
Linda is now reunited with her beloved Leonard, the love she never stopped missing. She is also joyfully joined again with her mother, Virginia Young; her father, Beve Coffman; her step‑parents, Leonard Young and Barbara Coffman; and her brother, Larry Young.
Her life was a testament to love, faith, and quiet strength — and her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the countless hearts she touched.
