Linda Her Vang, 40, of Indianapolis passed away on Sunday August 22, 2021. She was born on January 14, 1981, in Manitowoc, WI, to Chou and Ah (Yang) Her.
Linda graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc, WI in 2000. She married Xay Vang (her Superman) on January 1, 2006. Together they resided in Indianapolis and built a life surrounded by many friends and family.
Linda had a gift with young children and worked as a Facilitator with Carmel Clay Parks and Recreations from, 2007-2013. She then discovered that she could fuse her love of cosmetology, people and art and decided to enroll in Visual Communication with a concentration in photography at IVY Tech. In December 2016, she graduated with high honors with her associate degree. With Xay at her side, Linda worked tirelessly to grow her photography business, LV Photography, into a success, specifically in the city of Indianapolis. Her work was renowned in the creative and photographic community and has been showcased in various magazines. In fact, she garnered awards for her work, the most recent being the 2019 Roberts Camera One World Galaxy in which she placed 1st place overall. Finally, her business allowed her and Xay to travel across the United States and overseas. Her last photography assignment landed her in Colorado, a place she had always wanted to visit, where she captured her final photos in what she considered the “most beautiful state”.
Beyond photography, Linda had many hobbies and talents. She loved to sing and karaoke with her friends. She even recorded some original as well as cover songs and won a local “Idol” contest. Her creativity bled into all aspects of her personal life as well. She often showered those she loved with homemade gifts: ornaments, t-shirts, cards, and even “professionally” decorated cakes.
Linda was an easy person to love and had a genuine way of making everyone she met feel like her friend. She was full of kindness, positivity, and generosity. Her passing leaves a hole in many people’s lives and she will be dearly missed.
Linda is survived by her parents, brothers Pheng Her, John Her (Elizabeth H. Her), Jason Her, sisters Amy Her and Angel Her (Randal Survanto), and her precious chihuahua, Baby Bear.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband Xay Vang, paternal grandparents, Song Ying and Yer Thao Her, and maternal grandparents Vang Yang and Phoua Xiong.
