Linda Grace (Little) Dial, 88, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026.
Born on October 19, 1937, in Richwood, West Virginia, Linda was the daughter of the late James and Marguerite (Campbell) Little. Though life took her from the mountains of West Virginia to California and eventually back to Indiana, Linda carried with her a deep love of family, creativity, and the outdoors wherever she called home. West Virginia always held a special place in her heart and remained a source of cherished memories throughout her life.
Linda graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1960. On August 21 of that same year, she married Joseph Richard Dial III, beginning a partnership that would span nearly 35 years until Joe's passing in 1995. Together they built a life centered on love, raising their family while living in California and several other states before returning to Indiana in the 1980s to be closer to family.
Throughout her life, Linda embraced many roles with grace and purpose. She worked as a college teacher, librarian, homemaker, and later served as Vice President and co-owner of Sundial International Trading, Inc., operating as Sundial Silks in Castleton, Indiana. Whatever the role, she approached it with thoughtfulness, dedication, and genuine care for others.
To those who knew her best, Linda was defined not by her accomplishments, but by her kindness. She was loving, selfless, and generous, always putting family first. She had an extraordinary gift for making others feel welcome, cared for, and loved, and she never missed an opportunity to offer a warm hug or a few encouraging words.
Linda was endlessly creative and curious. She loved knitting, painting, calligraphy, stained glass, and was always eager to learn a new craft or hobby. She found joy in gardening, cooking, bird watching, and spending time outdoors with family, finding beauty in the natural world wherever she lived. She was an avid reader, especially of mystery novels, and treasured the friendships she formed through the Red Hat Society of Noblesville. Her faith remained an important part of her life and was reflected in the kindness and compassion she extended to others.
Of all the memories her family will carry forward, perhaps none is more treasured than the way Linda ended every phone conversation. Rather than simply saying goodbye, she would always say, "Consider yourself hugged." Those three words perfectly captured the warmth, comfort, and unconditional love that defined her life. It is a simple expression her children, grandchildren, family, and friends will forever hear in their hearts whenever they think of her.
Linda is lovingly remembered by her children, Jeff Dial and Greg Dial; daughter-in-law Rania Dial; her grandchildren, Rami Dial, Sophia Dial, Jessica Dial, and Justin Dial; and her sister-in-law, Sammy Little.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Richard Dial III; her parents, James and Marguerite (Campbell) Little; and her brother, Robert "Mike" Little.
Linda's legacy is one of love freely given, creativity joyfully shared, and unwavering devotion to her family. She leaves behind countless memories of kindness, laughter, warm embraces, and a life well lived. Though she will be deeply missed, those who knew and loved her will always carry her gentle reminder with them: "Consider yourself hugged."
