Linda Sue (Miley) Ban, 77, passed away peacefully on July 31st.
Born on February 13, 1948, in Indianapolis, Linda was the daughter of Ralph and Maxine Miley. She grew up in the city she would always call home and carried with her a deep love for learning and community throughout her life.
Linda pursued her passion for education at Ball State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. She later continued her academic journey at Indiana University, obtaining a master’s degree. Her dedication to knowledge and communication led her to a fulfilling role as a high school English teacher followed by a career in corporate communications. In every role she held, Linda brought clarity, compassion, and commitment—qualities that left lasting impressions on students and colleagues alike.
Linda was a loving wife to John Ban for 57 years, and a proud mother to three children: Michael Ban (Marcy), Jennifer Polomsky (Jeff), and Julia Morgan (Scott). She cherished her role as grandmother to Justin, Nathan, Bridget, Lily, Evan, Kate, Cole, and Clare. Her family was the heart of her world, and she embraced every moment spent with them.
She is also remembered by her sister Beverly West. Linda was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Maxine Miley and her brother Bill Miley.
Outside of work and family life, Linda found joy in reading, tending to her flower garden, and attending Broadway shows. These hobbies reflected her appreciation for beauty—whether found in words on a page, flowers in bloom, or stories brought to life on stage.
A member of St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, Linda found strength and solace in her faith. Her spiritual life was an important foundation that guided her actions and relationships.
Linda’s legacy lives on through the many lives she touched with kindness, wisdom, and grace. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Funeral Mass will be held on August 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church 1870 West Oak Street, Zionsville, IN. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:00 AM prior to service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The ALS Association at als.org.
