Lillie W. Compton

May 15, 1940 — September 25, 2010

Lillie Deaton Wilkerson Compton a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away on September 25, 2010 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Lillie was born on May 15, 1940 in Miami Florida to Benjamin Workman Wilkerson and Lillie Mae Deaton Wilkerson. She was raised in South Carolina where she eventually met her husband Terry Compton. They were drawn to each other right away and never had eyes for anyone else. She earned a Bachelor of the Arts in English from Brigham Young University in 1962. Lillie and Terry Compton were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 6, 1963. Lillie and Terry brought into their home three children. Lillie made a gospel-centered home for her children, where she taught and testified of the gospel frequently. Like the stripling warriors described in the Book of Mormon, her children can say, ". . . they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them." (Alma 56:47) Her children are grateful that their mother devoted so much of her energy to loving and teaching them. Truly, "Her children arise up and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praiseth her" (Proverbs 31:28) Lillie is survived by her husband Terry Compton, her three children, Kaye (Michael) Moen, Benjamin (RaLene) Compton, and Jenny Compton, her sister Breta (Nile) Sorenson as well as 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Lillie Wilkerson, and her sister, Cynthia Wilkerson Shaw. Services to be held Friday, October 1, 2010. Viewing for extended family at 10:00 a.m. Memorial Service for all at 11:00 a.m. at Sundberg- Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, UT. Interment will be in the Timpanogos Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
