Franklin, Ohio – Lillie Mae Curtis, 93, passed away while being comforted by her family on August 18, 2026. Her sense of adventure, her dancing, and most of all, the love for her family will be greatly missed.
Lillie was born on December 18, 1932, to parents Oliver & Vela (Watson) Hoffman in Center Port, Kentucky. She met the love of her life, Jesse Curtis, and they were married in 1949. They celebrated 70 years of marriage before his unfortunate passing in 2019. Lillie enjoyed a long career at Western Electric and after retiring, worked part time at Chick-Fil-A at Washington Square Mall.
When Lillie wasn’t working, she loved to dance, especially square dancing. You could also find her on the ice-skating rink at the Pepsi Coliseum or playing euchre with her friends. She also loved to travel the world with her girlfriends, whether that was a traditional sightseeing tour in Europe or a long cruise with the girls.
Most importantly though was Lillie’s love for her family. She made sure to spend as much time as she could with them and was a constant fixture at her grandchildren’s sporting events. Her missing presence will be felt by all who knew her.
Lillie is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jesse, her parents, Oliver and Vela Hoffman, and 7 siblings.
She is survived by her daughter Shirley Agnew (Steven); grandchildren Sara Bennett (Eric), and Scott Agnew (Jessica); and great-grandchildren Cole Bennett, Owen Bennett, Addie Agnew, Anna Agnew, and Ansley Agnew. Also, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229) from 10:30 am to 11 am with a funeral service held at 11 am. Burial will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery following services.”
