Lila Mae Martin

Lila Mae Martin was born on May 26, 1945 in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Ella Lee Ashley and John Dudley Nolen Sr. Lila attended public schools and was a high school track star.

Lila married young to Johnny Hubbard and to this union Sara Louise Hubbard was born. Lila then migrated to Minneapolis, Minnesota and later went on to marry AJ Martin to this union Rochelle Denice Martin was born.

Lila attended the University of Minnesota and acquired her LPN nursing license in 1972. During her nursing career, she worked with infants and geriatrics.

Lila and her family then moved to several places including Illinois, Maryland and finally set their roots in Indiana and completed their family with Javaris James Martin and Schkira Lynese Martin. While in Indiana Lila worked in a factory and as a cook which she truly enjoyed.

In 1989 Lila gave her life to the lord and received the gift of the Holy Ghost at the church of The First Born Saints under the leadership of Bishop Preston E Daniels III where she was a faithful member. She served as the treasurer on the mother’s board and in the kitchen for several years to support the Bishops banquets.

Lila enjoyed cooking for her family and anyone else who wanted to eat. She loved her grandchildren, bowling, playing cards and listening to music. Lila was a quiet storm, but a gentle soul.

Lila Mae Martin went home to be present with the lord on Sept 21, 2026 at the age of 81 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Ella Nolen, her husband AJ Martin, her sisters Ella Young,Talmage Nolen,Monica Hines Her brothers, John Dudley Nolen 2nd, Michel Nolen and John Dudley Nolen III (JD).

She is leaving to cherish her memory her daughters, Sara Louise Hubbard, Rochelle Denice McDaniels, Schkira Lynese Martin-Fonzer (Johnathan), Her Son, Javaris Martin. Her grandchildren, Sasha Hubbard, Shayla Hubbard, Daija Martin, Trinity McDaniels, Javaris Martin Jr.,Brayden Ayers Her Siblings, Patrica Brown, Tony Jacobs,Tonette Clardy, and Wendy Clark and a host of friends and family.
