Mr. Lewis Edward Carney was born June 6, 1935, in Port Royal Tennessee; near the Clarksville, Tennessee area. He was the son of two lovely parents: Mr. Herbert Carney, Sr. and Sallie Ann Carney.
Lewis attended school in Montgomery County, near Clarksville, Tennessee, and night school at Attucks in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He became a skilled bricklayer, and later he became a Masonry Sub Contractor. He bricked many houses throughout Indiana.
In 1965 he met and fell in love with Shirley Ann Hutchinson. They were married on April 2, 1966. To this couple two children were born: Lewis Edward Carney, Jr. and Angela Renee’ Carney who they loved dearly. Lewis & Shirley were happily married for 58 years.
In 1971 Lewis got to know Jehovah; he dedicated his life and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. As time passed he became an elder in the Congregation. During his life as a Christian, he went to his first quick build in Marion, Indiana. He thoroughly enjoyed working on theocratic projects and had the privilege to lay bricks on over 38 Kingdom Halls. And during the course of his life, he was a member of several different congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses such as Glendale, North, College Park, Meridian, and Kessler Congregations.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings. Lewis leaves behind his wife, Shirley Ann Carney, son Lewis E. Carney Jr.; daughter Angela Renee’ Hollars and son-in-law, Chris Hollars. Two sisters: Annie Carney; Cora Johnson, one brother Herbert Carney Jr. Three sisters-in-law Lorsie Carney; Adeline Carney; and Silvia Churl Williams. And many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
