Lewis 'Bob' Harris

June 16, 1923 — August 12, 2013

Lewis Harris Jr. was born June 16, 1923 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was the son of Lewis B. and Isabelle Grant Harris. Lewis attended Indianapolis Public Schools including Crispus Attucks High School. Growing up he was known as "Bobby" more so than Lewis by his family. His eldest daughter Sandra was born to him and his first wife, Naomi. On January 18, 1956, he married Tomoko Fukiage and they were married 57 years and from that union came three sons (Don, Jeff and Peter) and two daughters (Nola and Tosha). Lewis served 24 years in the US Army and was planning on 30, but he started studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses (Ken and Bonnie Herron). Upon learning the truth of God's Word, he retired in 1967 to become a minister. He and Tomoko dedicated their lives and were baptized together in 1968. Sometime after arriving in the States Tomoko became "Pat", (Lewis thought that was easier to say) and they along with family began attending the old North Unit Congregation. Bob & Pat fit right in with all the other couples there: Bill & Judy, Rod & Mary Jane, Alice & Arnold, Ken & Bonnie, Larry & Peggy, Rick & Linda, etc. He worked for 24 and half years at the Marion County Health Dept. as the Supply Supervisor and retired in 1998. Very good at organizing he revolutionized their inventory system to improve efficiency; he loved challenges like that. Later in life he completely redid all the congregation territories and made computer generated maps, creating his own program to do the job. Lewis was known for being a hard worker, able to fix anything and very organized. He was a, firm but good and loving father, who had a love for Jehovah. He passed that love on to his children, helping them see the importance of having God in their lives to be truly successful. He was extremely proud of all his family, his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lewis died on August 12, 2013 at the age of 90. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Tomoko, three daughters: Sandra (Willie), Nola, Tosha (Juan); three sons: Don (Phyllis), Jeff (Karma), Pete. Fifteen grandchildren: Chauncey, Nolan, Monica, Jason (Lisa), Dawn (Teron), Phillip (Tiffany), Phylicia, Sara (Eric), Tomoko (Jordan), Jaira, Kristopher, Myghan, TaShyla, Chanelle, and Juan Jr. Six great grandchildren: Alfred, Jaden, Jordon, Sydney, Ian and Alexis. As well as a host of family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Jim. "Love you daddy, hope to see you again when this old world is destroyed and we have a brand new one with no more death, sickness and pain. I love you forever more." ~ Sandra Roberts You are invited to go to the Guest Book page to pass along your personal message or tell a story. Sincerely, -Your friends at Flanner and Buchanan
