Leslie Marie Mills (Rebuck), 63, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on August 24, 2025.
She was born on November 19, 1961, in Elwood, Indiana, to Leda Rebuck (Tanzilli) and Robert Rebuck. Leslie was the beloved wife of Dale Mills, a devoted mother, a caring sister, and a proud grandmother. Her life was defined by love, faith, and a deep devotion to her family and community.
Leslie is survived by her children, Cleo Mills and Jude Mills, and her stepchildren, Heather Walton, David Mills, and Deborah Henkle. She was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren: Demetrius, Stephon, Emerson, Atticus, Percy, and Daniel. She is also survived by her sister, Rae Ann Goens (Rebuck) and her partner, Jack Glotzbach, and her brother, Neal Rebuck and his partner, Velia Flores, as well as eighteen nieces and nephews, multiple extended family members, and many dear friends.
A gifted and passionate educator, Leslie dedicated much of her life to teaching pre-K and kindergarten. She especially loved sharing music with her students and took great joy in directing Christmas programs that brought families lasting memories. She also poured her creativity into her classroom, taking pride in her seasonal bulletin board displays that delighted her students year after year.
Leslie’s faith was at the center of her life. A devoted Christian, she found joy in serving her church, volunteering in the children’s rooms, and participating in various women’s groups. Through her kindness, encouragement, and generosity, she touched the lives of countless people both inside and outside the classroom.
Leslie will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her love of family, and her unwavering compassion. Her legacy lives on in the children she taught, the friendships she nurtured, and the family she loved so deeply.
A memorial to celebrate Leslie’s life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, visitation from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM with a Memorial Service beginning at 2:00 PM. Located at People's Church 7960 Castleway Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46236
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization dear to her heart.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
