LeRoy Houk, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away December 2nd, 2024. He was born March 22nd, 1940, in Broadhead, Kentucky, to parents Chester and Iva Mae Houk.
LeRoy graduated from Broadhead High School.
In 1961, LeRoy married Bernice Allen. They shared 12 years together and later divorced. In 1984, LeRoy married his wife Loma “Jean”, and they shared 36 years. Loma passed away in November 2021.
A very hard worker, LeRoy worked for Naval Avionics and was the head technician at RCA for many years before retiring.
Leroy was a strong, family-oriented gentleman. He loved to travel, taking long road trips with no destination. He enjoyed listening to music whenever possible, preferably folk music and bluegrass. LeRoy was very handy and was very good at building and working on any computer or electronic. Though LeRoy didn’t consider himself a social person, he adored his family and spent time with them any chance he got.
LeRoy is survived by his children Charles Pittman, Kenny (The Late Diane) Houk, Patty (The Late Michael) Mantle, Barbara (Tim) Taylor, Deborah Jernstadt, Susan Burcham, and Lynn (James) Moss; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; four brothers and one sister.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jean; his former wife Bernice; two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be Monday December 9th, from 1pm-3pm at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East. His funeral will begin at 3pm. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
