LeRoy Cummins
82, of Indianapolis, passed away January 22, 2011. He was born April 7, 1928, in Indianapolis. He attended Washington High School. After school, he joined the U.S. Army, serving with the 603rd Medium Tank Company, 1st Calvary Division during the occupation of Japan. After serving in the military, he returned to Indianapolis where he used his skills in carpentry to hold a career in the construction industry. He was a project manager for the Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation during the construction of Castleton and Washington Square Shopping Malls in Indianapolis. Later, he ran his own construction firm until he retired in 1987.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Alice Smith Cummins. LeRoy is survived by his children, William (Karen) Cummins, Rebecca (Steve) Wardwell, Kathy Cummins, Ira Lee (Evelyn) Cummins, Dorathy Vise, Betty Jo Durham; brothers, Wayne Cummins, James Cummins; grandchildren, Crystal Vise, Michelle Myers, Ryan Matthews, Daniel Matthews, Jeffrey Ault; great-granchildren, Kerry Myers II, and Vincent Matthews.
Visitation for LeRoy will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street, a funeral service will follow visitation at 1 p.m. at the funeral center. Burial will follow in Floral Park Cemetery.
