Leo Robert Zwilling, age 93, of Indianapolis IN, passed away on Sunday September 4th, 2022 peacefully in his apartment at Traditions Assisted Living. Leo is survived by three children, Michael (Sonia) Zwilling, Teresa (Ed) Hansen, Stephen Zwilling. He loved his 6 grandchildren and their spouses: David, Avery, and Raven Peebles, Yesenia Zwilling, Eddie (Alyse) Hansen and Christie (Michael) Cataldo. He always gave them the biggest smiles.
Leo was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Eva and siblings Mildred, Coletta, Florence, Julietta, Nick, Dave, Anthony, and Theresa.
He grew up on a farm in Olney, IL. He was drafted and served overseas in the US Army 1951-1953. He obtained his GED and used the GI Bill to earn a bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Illinois. He worked at American Fletcher National Bank for 36 years and was passionate about his garden.
His last year of life he battled congestive heart failure and was up and walking until the end. If asked how he was doing, he always said, “I’m OK” and never complained. As a family we appreciated all the help provided by Dr. Jonathan Marsh, Dr. Emily Cochard and Dr. Kathleen Morris. Also, he received wonderful assistance and was loved by many at Traditions Assisted Living where he had many friends and enjoyed exercise and Wii bowling. His bowling team was part of the National Senior League and this year they were conference champions.
Leo was a devout Catholic and founding member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton church in Carmel, Indiana and practiced his faith daily. He led by example and was a wonderful father and spouse and faithfully assisted his wife for years with her physical challenges. Many just used the word “sweet” to describe who he was. He always had a positive attitude and did his best every day.
Please join us for a celebration of his life.
