Leo R. Tussey

March 19, 1951 — July 15, 2014

Leo R. "Junior" Tussey, 63, of Indianapolis entered into rest Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at home. He was born March 19, 1951 to the late Leo R. Tussey Sr. and Frona E. Tussey (Englert). Leo was a District Fire Chief and EMT with Fleming Gardens Volunteer Fire Department, in Wayne Township for 15 years; and a lifetime meber of the Fire Department. He was employed by J & L steel until a congenital eye disorder left him with a complete loss of vision. Leo loved NASCAR racing, football, pickles, a cold Bud, his friends, and most of all his family. He attended Westlake Community Church of God until his illness progressed. He discovered pickle juice cures everything. His pastor was able to pull him out of the baptismal before drowning, for he had the girth of a redwood. Leo created his own social network, the telephone, which he used every day to call all of his six siblings and his friends with his vital signs, local news, and weather. He had the biggest smile, the best personality, and a failing heart that was as big as life. Leo is survived by his wife, Kathy Tussey; daughters Teddi R. (Tom) Patterson, Franki (Carman) Andis, Kimberly (Jake) Storm, and Jenny (Zach) Stone; Son, Kevin Sheperd; Grandchildren, Dominic Wolbert, Taylor Patterson, Deacon Storm, Hayden Stone, Rilee Stone, and Bella Stone; Siblings, Larry (Pat) Tussey, Carol (Steve) Reffett, Betty (Tommy) Griffith, Phillip (Donna) Tussey, , Phyllis (George) Reffett, , Bruce Tussey, Danny (Rosie) Wilson, Tammy Butler, and Tracy Gribben. He was preceded in death by his former spouse Ginger Tussey; Brothers, Jerry Tussey and Tommy Tussey. Visitation for Leo will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday July 21 at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Centers – Floral Park. Funeral Services for Leo will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday July 22nd at the funeral center with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow the funeral service at Floral Park Cemetery. Come with your flowered shirts, leis, and flip-flops, have a pickle on Leo and celebrate his life. Be happy for Leo, his eyes will see heaven and his Lord.
