Leo J. Hine

Leo J. Hine 71, of Fishers died February 10, 2010. Born on February 22, 1938 in Ft. Wayne to Leo P. and Eleanor Schmitt Hine, he lived in the Indianapolis area since 1963. He had served as a recruiter for the Indiana National Guard. Leo had retired as a teacher from Warren Central High School and was the founder and current director of Partners In Education at the high school. He was an active member of numerous civic organizations including the Kiwanis Club, Moose Lodge, Board of Directors of the Character Counts Council and a member of the Board of Directors for the Washington Park Cemetery Association in addition to being the founder of the S & H Campground. Survivors include his wife Linda Harris, sons Andrew J. (Tiffany) Hine of Danville and Jay M. (Kimberlee) Hine of Greenfield, step-daughter Beth Harris of Fishers, brothers Robert and Herbert, sisters Elizabeth Schlatter and Norma Jean Geels, grandchildren Lincoln, Emma, Lauren and Maggie Hine. Preceding him in death were two sisters Rosemary Geary and Anna Margaret Gerdom. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the IU Simon Cancer Center for Miles for Myeloma. Post Road, Indianapolis, IN 46219. Visitation for Mr. Hine will be Saturday, February 13, 2010 from 12-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. at the Flanner and Buchanan Washington Park East Funeral Center. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Community Life Center located at Washington Park East Cemetery. Entombment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery.
