Leo Byron Coleman

Leo Byron Coleman was born on July 3, 1954 in Gary, Indiana to Edna Louise Harris and Luther Lee Coleman, both of whom preceded him in death.

He attended Gary Public Schools graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1972.  Leo continued both his football career and education at Hutchison Community College before transferring to Northern Illinois where he earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Physical Education in 1976.  After graduation he worked for United States Steel and served his community as a Gary Firefighter.

On October 31,1981, Leo entered into holy matrimony with Eunice Josephine Dixon and together raised 4 daughters.  In 1986, Leo and Eunice relocated their family from their hometown of Gary, Indiana to Indianapolis, Indiana.  As a resident of Indianapolis, Leo wore a number of career hats; truck driver, home inspector and restaurateur before he was forced into retirement.

After a long battle with cancer, Leo passed from this life peacefully on Tuesday December 5, 2017 at the age of 63 years old, surrounded by his family.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 36 years Eunice Coleman, daughters LaShaun Dixon (Rick); Tasha Dixon; Levyonnie Williams; Millicent Dotson (Brandon); Grandchildren Donta Dixon; Darius Dixon; Devon Williams, Edward Williams Jr; Danielle Williams; Ryan Williams; Bryce Dotson and Baby Evan Williams Brothers Charles (Janetta) Smith; Henry (Cathy) Harris; Lennon Harris; Thomas (Lynn) Harris and a hosts of family and friends.
