Leo L. Braun Jr., Age 73, passed away on September 19, 2013.
He is the son of Leo L. Braun Sr. and Thelma (Massing) Braun of Indianapolis, Indiana. Leo was born at St. Francis Hospital (Beech Grove) on July 19, 1940.
Leo graduated from Cathedral High School where he played four sports and was co-captain of the football team. He attended Butler University on a basketball scholarship where he majored in math and was a member of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity. Leo had the privilege to play on Butler's 1961-62 basketball team that went to the final 16 in the NCAA tournament. His main enjoyment was playing with a great bunch of teammates and having the Great Tony Hinkle as their basketball coach.
Leo devoted his life to learning what's important in everybody's life – LOVE — of self and others. He is the author of a book, Love Each Other. He worked for Russell M. Tolley and Associates, American United Life, McCready and Keene and the State of Indiana.
Leo is survived by his 3 children – Jim, Mary Beth, and Jeff; Tom Hanson (Mary Beth); Mirja Braun (Jeff); grandchildren – Alexandra and Axel Braun; Sisters – Nancy Tuttle, Sylvia Boyle and Brother – Bob Braun.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2013, at Flanner and Buchanan - Broad Ripple, 1305 East Broad Ripple Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at St. Thomas Aquinas at 46th and Illinois. In Lieu of Flowers, donations should be made to the Butler University Athletic Department, 510 W. 49th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208.
