Leila M. Edwards

Leila M Edwards (Whyde), age 91 of Indianapolis passed away on June 20, 2026. She was born on March 17, 1935, in Indianapolis, IN, to her parents George and Blanche Whyde. Leila graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1952.

Leila was a dedicated employee for National City Bank, in Branch Operations. She enjoyed her job and all her co-workers. She retired in 2003 to take care of her ailing husband. On September 5, 1952, Leila married David M Edwards. Together they spent 58 years creating a life filled with love, laughter and countless cherished memories. Their partnership was one of true love and devotion. 

Survivors include her children David M Edwards, Jeffrey R Edwards (Jeanne), Timothy L. Edwards (Cassandra), daughter Kimberly (Edwards) Holzwarth (Tom) Nine Grandchildren, and six Great Grandchildren, and her beloved dog Oliver. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, David Edwards, Daughter-in-law, Shirley Edwards, Grandson, Corey Edwards, brother, Richard Whyde.

 Leila will be remembered for her love of life, positive attitude, friendly smile, sense of humor, her laugh, and her unconditional love. Leila enjoyed listening to various genres of music, shopping, crotchet, sewing, reading, fishing, camping, playing Euchre and UNO, attending musicals, and spending time with family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 10:30 PM to 12:30 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 PM. Burial will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery.
