Lee Bardach was born in Indianapolis and spent his entire life as a resident of Central Indiana. He passed away peacefully on October 26, 2026 in Carmel after a yearslong battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was a proud graduate of Carmel High School and Indiana University’s School of Business. Lee followed in his father’s footsteps and spent his adult life working in the jewelry business, primarily traveling the Midwest focused on providing exceptional service to his customers, many of whom became close friends. He was also devoted to spending time with his family and ensuring his three kids had countless opportunities in sports or other extracurricular activities. The family also enjoyed traveling together, with South Carolina’s beautiful Hilton Head Island a common spot for many summer vacations.
Each Memorial Day Weekend starting well before his tenth birthday was spent at 16th & Georgetown, climbing the seemingly endless stairs into the Paddock Penthouse for the Bardach Family’s annual trip to the Indianapolis 500. He inherited his father’s lifelong passion for IndyCar racing and passed it down to his kids, who continue cherishing the time in those same seats each May. He also loved our local teams with thousands of hours spent cheering the Hoosiers, Pacers and Colts either in person or on TV with his family and friends.
Lee was very social and never met a stranger. But he also enjoyed moving a conversation along. Everyone can likely remember a conversation with him that, while lagging, was either moved forward or ended with a very simple “What else?”
He is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Gail, and their three adult children; Jeff (Emily) Bardach; Carey (Luke) Musa; Evan (Courtney) Bardach and three grandchildren; Aspen and Weston Musa and Elizabeth Bardach. He is also survived by three of his siblings, Ann Vollmar, Neil and Joel and was preceded in death by his parents, Thornton and Lillian and his brother Alan. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 6th at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd. Indianapolis at 11am with visitation preceding from 9 - 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E 91st St Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
