Layla Victoria Ilyas, 4, of Westfield, Indiana was killed tragically on Saturday, June 30th, 2012. The striking beauty of our Layla was but a glimpse into the vibrance of her spirit. Layla spent her life in the cradle of her loving and devoted family and friends, and was a very happy little girl. She loved coloring pictures, doing puzzles, swimming, visiting new places, singing and listening to music. She was happiest when playing with her big brother Mahlon and her best cousin, Siona, or snuggling with her Mama. Layla attended preschool at the Montessori School of Westfield. She had just learned to write her name and recently read her first book. She was a maternal, caring, and gracious child. Her concern for others showed in everything she did. Layla loved admiring the moon and stars, playing instruments, her dogs Bear and Blaise, the color purple and all sweet treats. She had a contagious giggle and preferred skipping to walking. She was a beacon of love and light to all who knew her.
Layla is survived by her Mama, Jessica Ilyas, her brother-brother, Mahlon, and her Daddy, Ibrahim Ilyas. She is also survived by her Auntie Ginia Rhum, Uncle Kori Rhum and best cousin, Siona, her Uncle James Palmer and cousins Ava and Cameron Palmer, her Aunties - Lara and Lila Ilyas, her Na-Na and Do-Do - Dana and Saeed Ilyas, and her Nanny and Grand - Dennis and Julie Palmer. She is now safe in the arms of her Grandma Denise Palmer, who died in 1994.
Funeral services for our angel will be held at Flanner and Buchanan- Hamilton Memorial Park, 4180 Westfield Road (located on the grounds of Hamilton Memorial Park Cemetery), Noblesville, on Friday, July 6 at 1 PM.
