Laurie Elizabeth (Brooks) Bennett

September 11, 1940 — January 7, 2024

Noblesville, Indiana

Laurie Elizabeth Bennett, 83, of Noblesville, IN, passed away Sunday morning, January 7, 2024. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, on September 11, 1940, the daughter of the late Harold F. Brooks and Alice M. (Henry) Brooks. Raised in Detroit, her family moved to Marion, Indiana, in 1958. Laurie graduated from Marion High School in 1959 and married her high school sweetheart and best friend, Ronald L. Bennett, on May 15, 1961, in St. Paul Catholic Church of Marion.

Laurie and Ron raised their family in Marion where she was an active member of the community and her church. In 1991, Laurie and Ron moved to Sweetser, Indiana, where they lived until 1998 when they retired to Loudon, Tennessee, for the beauty, warmth, and year-round golf. In Loudon, Laurie attended St Thomas Catholic Church where she was a community volunteer and lay minister. Laurie was an avid gardener and golfer and enjoyed playing Mahjong and Euchre with her Tellico Village friends. In 2021, Laurie and Ron moved back to Indiana to be near family.

Laurie was committed to family and was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Laurie is survived by her husband, Ron Bennett; sister, Kathy A. Brooks (Bob Buyce); and children, Timothy D. Bennett (Teresa), Wendy A. Carl (Fred Rovet), and Ammie E. Dillon (Matthew). Laurie cherished her grandchildren: Daniel K. Bennett, Isabelle C. Dillon, Jackson R. Carl, and Samuel C. Dillon. An animal lover, Laurie also bragged about her constant companion and fur-baby, Toby, as well as her many grand-puppies.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Harold (1985) and Alice (2005) and her sister Judith A. Brooks (1952).

A Celebration of Laurie’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. with the memorial service beginning at noon on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters), 4180 Westfield Rd, Westfield, IN.
