Laurence Ray Simmerman

Laurence R Simmerman, 84, of Mt. Comfort, IN passed on to spend time with his family in Heaven on January, 9th 2024 at Community North Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born June 7th 1939 in Indianapolis, IN to Forrest and Dortha (Woods) Simmerman. He was one of 4 siblings, he is survived by his youngest Sister, Judith (Ronald) Simmerman (Curry). He graduated from Warren Central High School in 1957. Attended Purdue University School of Engineering. Also served 4 years in the United States Army as a Radioman and continued to serve with the Indiana National Guard out of Stout Field as Radioman. He married Carol Simmerman (McKamey) on May 9th, 1964. They were married for 56 years. Carol Simmerman deceased September 6th, 2020. Larry was a member of Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church. Larry was employed by Ammerman, Davis, and Stout Consulting Engineers for majority of his life. He also was Lead Electrical Consulting Engineer for Moore Engineers as well as Lead Electrical Consulting Engineer for Odle, McGuire, and Shook A&E firm. Larry’s many accomplishments were the recent Lucas Oil Stadium Electrical and Lighting, Indiana Capital Building relighting, Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, various state work for Indiana, IU and PU buildings on campus as well as many others. Larry and Carol started Boy Scout Pack 236 at Mt. Comfort UMC and continued on into Boy Scouts Troop 236. Among his scouting many traveling to Philmont twice, Quetico Provincial Park Canoeing, and many other involvements with the Boy Scouts of America. Larry enjoyed his family most of all, his dog Dollie was his companion after his wife’s death. He survived by his Son, Baron Simmerman (Grace). His daughter Tiffany White. His grandchildren Cole Simmerman (Eagle Scout), Tyler Simmerman (Eagle Scout), Alan White (Lena), and Alysin White. Larry was preceded in his death by his Parents, Forrest and Dortha Simmerman, his oldest brother Forrest “Bud” Simmerman, youngest brother Daniel “Danny” Simmerman and his wife Carol Simmerman. Larry will be shown at Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park East, Indianapolis, IN on Feb 3rd, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Funeral service following viewing and presided by Pastor Ethan Maple of Mt. Comfort UMC. Larry is to be cremated and will be entombed with his deceased wife Carol.
