Laura B. Tefft
68, formerly of Indianapolis and recently of Brighton, Colo., died Tuesday, August 13. Laura was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Those fortunate enough to know Laura will recall her hardworking nature, thoughtfulness and curiosity.
Laura was born August 2, 1945, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Howard and Elma (Hughes) Craw. In 1968 she married Thomas Tefft in Gerry, N.Y. They have a daughter, Lynn Tefft Hoff of Aurora, Ill., and son, Wade Tefft, of Brighton, Colo. For many years Laura worked beside her husband managing the office of the family glass shop, Tefft Glass of Dunkirk, N.Y.
Tom and Laura moved to Indianapolis in 1996. Laura loved the arts and culture the city had to offer and was a frequent visitor to Conner Prairie in the summer and Hilbert Circle Theatre at Christmastime. Laura was a lifelong learner and was proud to earn her bachelor's degree from Indiana Wesleyan University at age 58. Laura is also remembered for her love of the holidays and the dozens of homemade cookies, traditional Christmas music and beautifully wrapped gifts that greeted family and friends from near and far.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her sister Carolyn (Richard) Durphy of Locust Grove, Va., brother David (Shanna) Craw of LaSalle, Colo., and sister Joyce Kauffman of Hilton Head, S.C.; her daughter and husband Robert; and her son and wife Nicole.
