Latris (Graves) Blankenship, 93, entered her heavenly home on Monday, July 27, 2026. She was born on March 6, 1933, in Adolphus, Kentucky.
Latris dedicated many years of service to Western Electric before becoming a homemaker. She later worked alongside her mother in the family's memorial flower business, where she found joy in serving others.
In 1967, Latris accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, a decision that became the foundation of her life. Alongside her beloved husband, Floyd, she was a founding member of True Word Baptist Church. For more than 40 years, she faithfully served the Lord by playing the piano every Sunday, blessing countless lives through her music and unwavering commitment to her church family.
Latris was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 61 years, Floyd Blankenship; her parents, Odell and Ethel Graves; and her sister, Leoda Searcy.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her sons, Rick (Monta) Blankenship of Greenfield, Indiana, and Roger (Diana) Blankenship of Plainfield, Indiana; her four grandchildren, Mandy (Josh) Hancock, Marcy (Larry) VanKirk, Tyler (Autumn) Blankenship, and Zachary (Ashley) Blankenship; ten great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandsons expected later this year. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who were blessed by her love, kindness, and steadfast faith.
Latris will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her servant's heart, her unwavering faith in God, and the love she poured into her family and church. Her legacy of faith and devotion will continue to live on in the generations she leaves behind.
A visitation will be held in Latris's honor 11-1pm Friday July 31st, 2026, with a service to follow at 1pm, all to take place at Flanner Buchanan-Memorial Park Funeral Center 9350 E Washington St. Indianapolis IN 46229. Following the service she will be laid to rest at Orchard Hill Cemetery.
