Larry William Sweeney

Kokomo, Indiana – Larry William Sweeney, 85, passed away peacefully after being comforted by family and friends on August 1, 2025. His charming smile and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Larry was born on June 20, 1940, to parents Frank & Dorothy (Monahan) Sweeney in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Thomas Carr Howe High School, joining the Air Force after graduation where he served with distinction. After returning to civilian life, Larry joined the United States Postal Service, where he continued serving the United States for another thirty years until his retirement in 1995.

Larry carried his service in the Air Force with him for the rest of his life, maintaining the organization and dedication taught to him in every way. An avid, lifelong carpenter, his workshop was meticulously maintained with every tool in its place. He also enjoyed bird hunting, scuba trips, as well as trips to Arizona with his best friend, Bud.

A gentleman through and through, Larry dedicated himself to serving his family, friends, and country throughout his life and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his beloved wife Judith (Snodgrass) Sweeney.

He is survived by his daughters, Karen Glendenning (Jay), and Lori Hedges (Brian).
