Larry Steven Kieninger, 71, died at 12:05 am, Tuesday, March 8, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones in his home in Indianapolis.
Larry was born on October 22, 1950, in Indianapolis, IN, to John and Alma (Crouch) Kieninger. He graduated from Southwestern High School, Class of 1969. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army. He worked for Indianapolis Public School as a Diesel Mechanic for 33 years, retiring in 2013.
On July 17th, 2010, he married the love of his life, Debra Hightower and together they enjoyed spending time outdoors, traveling together, and hosting gatherings. He enjoyed racing, both as a spectator at Nascar races, and working on the cars for the ASA circuit, as well as locally at Kitley. Spending time with family was important to him and he excelled at being a grandfather to Tyler Samuel, James Hightower, Morgan (Goff) Warkentine, Andrew Beeson, Jocelynn Samuel, Nathan Beeson, Linzey Welsh, Lessly Welsh, Brady Goff, Austin Goff, Madison Hipskind, Mason Hipskind, and Drake Samuel. He was also blessed with four great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and grandchildren, he is survived by his children Dereka Samuel and her husband, Shaun, of Wabash, Casa “Casy” Goff and her husband Donny, of Butler, Steven Kieninger and his wife Danette, of Wabash, Kristi Beeson and her husband, Richard, of Indianapolis, and Niki Brinker and her husband, Randy, of Indianapolis; (3) Brothers Robert “Bob” (Kathy) Kieninger, John “Jack” (Jeri) Kieninger, Daniel “Danny” (Connie) Kieninger; (3) Sisters Joy Kieninger, Connie (Sammy) Stephen, Bonnie (Bobby) Mattingly.
If you wish to share in the remembrance of Larry with his friends and family who loved him, please join in the services being held to honor a truly nice, humble, and extremely humorous (LA LA LA) man. Services will be held at Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis (46222) on Wednesday, March 16, 2022. Friends may call between 11am and 1pm, with services immediately following.
