Larry Ray Campbell, 82, formerly of Plainfield, IN passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2015 in West Lafayette, IN. He was born on August 9, 1932 in Vincennes, IN to James Leroy and Rosa Margaret (Memering) Campbell. Larry was a 1950 graduate of Lincoln High School and received his certification to become a Diesel Mechanic from Bailey Technical School in St. Louis, MO. He worked for P.R. Mallory, Cardinal Industrial Contractors and Gordons Transports. Larry was an Independent Contractor as Campbell's Service. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. During that time he served with the Honor Guard at Arlington National Cemetery. He enjoyed traveling to see different gospel groups perform. Larry is survived by his daughters, Leslie Campbell and Laura (Campbell) Hennon, both of Indianapolis; son, Michael Campbell of Lebanon, IN; son-in-law, David Hennon of Indianapolis; and grandsons, David Matthew and Daniel Michael Hennon. He is also survived by his brother, John Campbell of Vandalia, IL; and sister, Ellen Wheeler of Sunbury, OH. Larry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gloria Ann (Grider) Campbell who passed away in 1998; he was also preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister. No services will be scheduled; a private gathering will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes, IN at a later date.
