Larry Eugene Thomas, 80, of Indianapolis passed away on March 7, 2022.
He was born January 22, 1942 in Kentucky to the late Hubert and Mary “Lucille” Thomas.
Larry began his education in a ‘one room’ schoolhouse in Kentucky and achieved his Diploma from Thomas Carr Howe High School in Indianapolis, class of 1960. He became a maintenance mechanic at the Kroger Dairy in his 35 plus career. He also worked for the Pacers Sports and Entertainment company from the opening of Market Square Arena, as well as the Fieldhouse until he retired. He enjoyed racing including occasionally drag racing, the Indianapolis 500 and NASCAR. He enjoyed cooking out on the grill as well as going out to eat with family. He also was a big local fan of his Pacers as well as the Colts, and often wore their apparel. Larry was a man to keep things in order, fixing things around the house, changing his car’s oil himself, hand washing his cars and cutting his own grass, other than when it was his boys duty to do so. He stayed active late into life including frequent bicycle rides around the neighborhood.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Karen Thomas; sister Ann Berry: his sons, Michael (w/wife Linda), and Scott (w/wife Lawanna); Grandchildren Nicholas, Kira and Trisha
He was preceded in death by his parents Hubert Oakley and Mary Lucille as well as his sister Margie and brother Fred.
