Larry Deonta Burroughs-Link

April 7, 1999 — December 2, 2025

Indianapolis, IN

My precious son, Larry D. Burroughs (“Deonta”), left this world unexpectedly on December 2, 2025, at only 26 years old. He was born on April 7, 1999.

Deonta was special needs, but to us, he was nothing short of extraordinary. He lived his life with many challenges such as g-tube, a trach, and a wheelchair — but none of those things ever defined him. What defined him was his smile, his light, his strength, and the love he poured into our family and any room without ever speaking a word.

Deonta’s infectious smile and bubbly personality were a source of warmth and happiness to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a beacon of joy and light.

For 26 years, Deonta was our lifeline. He gave us purpose every day. He made us better. Even when his body worked against him after unexpected surgeries and sicknesses along the way he found a way to smile — every single day, and sometimes all through the night. His joy was pure, his spirit unbreakable, and his presence ALWAYS felt like a blessing and peace we never deserved but were so grateful to receive.

He had a fondness for balloons, disco lights and flashing lights, and all things music, including Mozart and Bach. When he was around his family, Deonta’s senses were sharp. He would sense their presence and turn towards their voices, and he would be overjoyed, as shown by the huge smile on his face. He cherished trips to the zoo and state fair, and always loved to go through the car wash. Throughout his life, Deonta benefitted from pet therapy, which included dogs and horses. He found comfort through the companionship of animals.

We prayed and fought for him daily to defy every statistic placed on children with multiple disabilities and limited hospital stays to a minimum. While his journey here ended far too soon, his impact, his love, and the memories he gave us will outlive every expectation. His life was short, but his love and contagious smile was immeasurable and non-replaceable. He will forever be in our hearts.

Deonta is survived by his loving parents and sister, Jasmine.
