Larrie Dillard Sr. 66 passed away March 16, 2012. He was born February 5, 1946 in Portland TN. to the late Thurman and Garnet Dillard. Larrie married Ruthanne Cline on Oct. 26, 1963. The couple has two children and four great-grandchildren. Larrie leaves his wife Ruthanne; daughter, Melanie (Greg) Canter; son, Larrie (Cindy) Dillard Jr.; four grandchildren, Jeremy Dillard, Joshua Dillard, Gregory "Chip" (Jewelle) Canter II, Melissa (Greg) Bayatakos; four brothers, Duane (Tammi) Dillard, Brian (Michelle) Dillard, Kevin (Elaine) Richardson, Gary (Carolyn) Richardson; three sisters, Vickie (Ron) Spradlin, Connie (John) Siebenthal and Vickie (Dean) Rayburn. Larrie was employed with the Post Office for 37 years. He received a Safe Driving Award for 27 years before becoming a supervisor for MVS. Larrie was a member of Star Baptist Church, St. Paul, IN, where he served as a deacon and trustee. He was a member of Brookside F&AM Lodge #720. He served as president of the local National Federated Craft #78 and he had earned the Honor Eagle Scout and was honorary Kentucky Colonel. Larrie enjoyed gardening, sharing his faith and helping others in need during his retirement. He and Ruthanne spent seven years as "winter" Texans. He was proud of his Tennessee birth and his Cherokee heritage. His family was his greatest joy in life. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 PM at Flanner and Buchanan Washington Park St 10722 E. Washington St. Pastor Tom True of Star Baptist and Pastor Greg Brown of Harmony Baptist Church will conduct a funeral Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
