Lanice “Dale” Thompson, passed away on September 23, 2016.
Dale was born on February 29, 1940 in Tompkinsville, Kentucky to the late Emily and Hiram “Bert” Thompson. He moved from Kentucky to Indiana in 1948, graduated from Ben Davis High School and resided on the southwest side of Indianapolis. He played amateur basketball at Dearborn Gym, and had a lifelong passion for golf. He worked as an assistant pro at Sarah Shank Golf Course in the 1960’s and was Club Champion at Southwestway/ Winding River Golf Course in the 1980’s. He worked for the railroad, later became a real estate investor, and was an active member of the Decatur Township Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Hart Thompson, son, Dr. Gary Thompson, daughter, Cathy (Johnny) Graham, son, Paul (Nicole) Thompson, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a brother, Terry (Anita) Thompson, and sister, Donna (Tim) Morris.
A visitation will take place on Monday, September 26, from 5-8pm and Tuesday September 27, from 9-10am with the service to follow 10am at Flanner and Buchanan- Decatur.
In lieu of flowers donations in Dale’s honor may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Little Red Door.
