Labrine Lucas

Labrine Dimos Lucas passed peacefully into eternal life, at home with her family, on May 03, 2025.

Born in Gary, Indiana on January 25, 1941, Labrine was the only daughter of Jenny and Jim Dimos and the second-oldest of their four children. Growing up in Glen Park, Labrine worked at the family restaurant - The Beauty Spot - and was raised among extended family, including her beloved grandparents: Evangelia and John.

Labrine earned a master’s degree in home economics from Ball State Teacher’s College, where she met her lifetime love, Owen. They married in November 1965. While raising their family in Chesterton, Indiana, Labrine remained active in the community — especially enjoying Tri Kappa, medical auxiliary, and her extended family at St. Iakovos Greek Orthodox Church. Later, Labrine applied her love of children and advocacy to establish and develop the Parents as Teachers program — providing and expanding education and support services to families throughout Porter County.

Labrine was blessed with a supportive family and many treasured friends and neighbors, whom she loved as family. She is reunited in heaven with her parents, her brother and sister-in-law: John and Marianne Dimos, and nephews: James (Kathy) and John Dimos. Labrine is survived by her spouse (Owen); children: Mark (Keka), Cathy (Andrew), and Christina (Peter); grandchildren: Dimitri, Alexia, Nina, Sophia, and Henry; brothers: Greg (Lisa) and Tom (Pam) Dimos; niece: Elizabeth (Andrew) Whitaker, and nephews: Christopher (Theresa), Toney, Stephan, and Nicholas Dimos.

As a teacher, mentor, writer, gardener, seamstress, hostess, child and parent advocate, and art patron, Labrine shared her time, love, and skills with anyone in need. She will be most fondly remembered as a spouse, mother, grandmother, sister, thea, cousin, and friend.

May her joy in life and giving spirit live on in all who knew her.

Visitation will be held Friday May 9th from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Indianapolis. Funeral services will begin there at 12:00 pm.
