Krystyna Klimczak

Krystyna (Krys) Klimczak passed away on March 7, 2024 from pancreatic cancer.

Krys immigrated with her family from Europe at an early age and settled in Indianapolis. She embraced American life while maintaining a deep connection to her Polish heritage. She proudly represented Miss Poland in the 1981 beauty pageant at the Indianapolis International Festival, a testament to her cultural pride. 

A passionate traveler, Krys, explored every country in Western Europe, regularly traveled to Poland to reconnect with her family, and enjoyed visits to California to see her nieces and grandnieces/nephews.

In 2000, Krys met her husband, sharing a mutual love for their Polish culture and travel. She concluded her career as an administrative assistant at the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, where she dedicated over 30 years of service, retiring in 2023.

Survived by her husband, Dariusz Madejski, and nieces and nephews: Thomas Merritt, Steve Merritt, Heidi Raxon, Andrea Reilly, and Lori Reposa.

She will be remembered for her dignity, cultural pride, and love for travel.

A Visitation will be on Monday, March 11, from 11 am to 1 pm, at Flanner Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Avenue. A Funeral Service will follow at 1 pm. Krys’ final resting place will be at Union Chapel Cemetery.
