Kitty Ilene Carr

Our precious Kitty Ilene Carr passed away on August 12, 2022, at the age of 76. Kitty spent the past 13 years living in Indianapolis, Indiana to spend time with her grandchildren. She was born in San Diego, CA on September 4, 1945, to Albert John Carr and Mary (Mata) Carr Gentry.

Kitty was a California girl, living in Los Angeles County for most of her life. She loved everything about her home state, particularly the sunshine and warm weather. With a love for travel and a desire to explore, she took many adventures.

Kitty started working at her local library age of 16 and obtained a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Library Science while working and raising her children. During her career as a Librarian, she worked for various California city, and county agencies, including the LA County Sherriff’s department for almost 30 years.

Most importantly, she loved her family and friends, and we love her. She was our fiercest ally, our biggest cheerleader and she watched over all of us.

Kitty is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lloyd Charles Scruggs, her daughter Kelley I. Soper and son Joshua L. Scruggs. She has four grandchildren, Mackenzie D. Soper, Zachary C. Soper, Aiden J. Scruggs and Kaitlyn Scruggs. She is also survived by her sisters, Marion H. Woodward, and Amy B. Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Woodward K. Carr and her niece Michelle L. Woodward.
