Kimla J. Smith

Kimla J. Smith, 58, Noblesville, passed away April 1, 2016. She was born August 21, 1957, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Frank and MaryAnn (Layne) McMurry. She was the wife of Paul Joseph “PJ” Smith, married April 4, 2003. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, wife, friend, and disciple of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Kim has been called home.

She was a member of Carmel Lutheran Church, the National Dog Groomers Association, the Afghan Hound Club of America, and the American Saluki Association. She owned and operated Heaven Scent Mobile Grooming and leaves behind her legacy of T’Mojo Hounds Kennel, where she devoted endless time and love to the care, rearing, raising, and competitive showing of Afghan Hounds, one very special Saluki, and an Ibizan Hound.

Besides her parents and husband, Kim is survived by two daughters, Khristen Scircle and Erin (Gordon Van Kirk) Carter; four grandchildren, Elijah Hume, Audrey Carter, Griffin Carter, Elle Louise Carter; brother, J-Allen (Juliet) McMurry and their children, Joshua, Jacob and Kaitlyn Grace; her daughters’ father, Robert Benjamin “Benny” Baumgardner; and her beloved canine companions, Dahlia, Isabella, Dee, Dwight, Dallas, and Pari. She was preceded in passing by her grandparents, Gregory M. and Mary Louise Layne and Noel and Ruby McMurry; and her parents-in-law Bette Jane and Joseph Allen Smith.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Flanner and Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive. Celebration of Life services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday April 16, 2016, at Carmel Lutheran Church, 4850 East Main Street. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
