Kevin James Hohnbaum

Kevin James Hohnbaum, 49 of Indianapolis passed peacefully on August 10, 2022 with his wife and sister at his bedside. He is now in the arms of his Savior, Jesus. During his difficult and often challenging battle with glioblastoma, Kevin adopted the motto “Fight Boldly/Serve Daily”.

Kevin was born March 8, 1973 in St. Paul, Minnesota.  After high school, he graduated from DeVry University in Irving, Texas and spent his career as a Computer Software Engineer.  He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and his children’s sports teams. He enjoyed playing games with family and friends including strategy games, cards, and cornhole. Most of all, Kevin was full of life and will be remembered for his kind heart, generosity, and his competitive spirit.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 24 years Jenny; children Meredith and Aaron; parents James and Lois Hohnbaum; sister Kristin Klein (Keith); nephews Justin Klein (Isabella), Fletcher Klein (Hayley Sutherland), and Sebastian Klein; mother-in-law Barbara Smith; and brother-in-law Mark Smith (Jamie) and nephew Drake Smith; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law Joe Smith.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 19 from 3-8 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Geist, 7855 Cork Road, Indianapolis.  Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 20 at 12 noon with visitation 10 AM until the time of service at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 8115 Oaklandon Road, Indianapolis.  The family asks those attending to wear blue in honor of Kevin.

Memorial Contributions in his name may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Community Health Network Foundation.

The family would like to thank Community North Hospital and all of the amazing staff that provided such wonderful care for Kevin during his journey (especially ONS, PCU, MRO, ICU, and the Cancer Center).
