Kenneth W. Carter, 78, Indianapolis, passed away April 23, 2013. Kenneth was born on October 19, 1934 in Deer Creek, IN, the son of William and Belva (Johnson) Carter. He was raised in Indianapolis and attended Thomas Carr Howe High School. On March 6, 1953, Kenneth married Nancy Lee Long at Christian Park Community Church. He served in the US Marine Corps and was stationed in San Diego. Kenneth and Nancy later returned to Indiana, where Kenneth was employed at Chrysler Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1983. He worked at Hoosier Links Golf Course for three years. In 1987, Kenneth and Nancy moved to Newport Richey, FL where they lived for 15 years. He was an employee of Innisbrook Country Club in Tarpon Springs, FL for three years, and the Links Golf Course in Hudson, FL for five years. Kenneth and Nancy returned to the Indianapolis area in 2001, where he and Nancy enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Kenneth's hobbies included golfing, camping, boating, hunting, bowling, and he was also an avid fan of the Colts, Pacers, Reds, IU Hoosiers and Jeff Gordon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Lee (Long) Carter, and his sister, Evelyn Carter. Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Kelli Howard (Jerry); his son, Keith Carter (Ann); and his grandchildren, Sarah Carter, Brittany, Lindsey, Mallory, Brian, and Emily Howard. Services will be on Saturday, April 27 at 11 AM at Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street. Visitation will be on Friday, April 26 from 4-8 PM at the funeral center. Entombment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery.
