Kenneth E. Shultz, 77, of Carmel passed away January 1, 2024. He was born April 6, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of the late Richard Paul and Mona Beatrice (Hutchings) Shultz. He married Diane Usher on January 30, 1971.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Diane Shultz; two brothers, Fred (Debbie) Shultz and Rob (Kathy) Shultz; brother-in-law. Bill (Cyndie) Usher; and several nieces and nephews.
Ken graduated from Wheaton High School in Silver Spring, Maryland in 1964. He spent two years at the University of Maryland and was then drafted into the Army. He served proudly and honorably during the Vietnam War. Luckily his great typing skills earned him an assignment at the Pentagon. After being honorably discharged he returned to the University of Maryland to complete a BA degree in Business Administration.
After graduation Ken joined Dow Chemical Company. While employed in Indianapolis he earned a Masters in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University. Ken worked in various positions at Dow in several locations during his career, retiring in Indianapolis.
Ken was an avid and talented photographer. He was an active member of St. Mark’s UMC and took great pride in his role as leader of the Coffee’n Cameras Photography group that met at the church. Ken’s other favorite hobbies included golfing and driving his sports car, not only in rallies but just for enjoyment.
He was an active member of The Sertoma Club of Broad Ripple and enjoyed participating in many of their activities and made many cherished friendships.
A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024, at St. Mark’s Methodist Church, 4780 East 126th Street. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner Buchanan - Carmel.
