Kenneth Patrick Reese passed away peacefully at the age of 66 on November 16, 2014 in Indianapolis, IN. He was surrounded by family at home. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rita (Glosson) Reese, his children, Kristen Phair (Daniel), and Mary Reese (Neil Ragsdale), and his grandson, Douglas Mackay Phair. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Edith (Mackay) Reese. He was also preceded by his beloved aunt, Barbara Mackay.
Kenneth was born in Eldorado, Arkansas on February 27, 1948. With a father in the Marines, young Kenneth lived in many different states. Indianapolis became his permanent home in 1958. He attended Park School where he met lifelong friends and lettered in baseball, basketball and football. Kenneth's academics brought him to Hobart College in Geneva, NY. He continued on to graduate with a B.A. from Indiana University with distinction in 1974. With a love for all things fair and just, Kenneth graduated magna cum laude in 1977 from the Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis. Kenneth's career as a trial attorney would span 30+ years.
On New Year's Eve 1971, Kenneth went on his first date with Rita. They were married on August 19, 1972, and enjoyed a long and dedicated marriage. He was a devoted father to his two daughters, whom he loved dearly. He relished every moment of being a grandfather.
Kenneth had a great fondness for music and theater. He sang in the church choir at an early age. As an adult, he enjoyed acting in plays with the Mud Creek Players. He woke up singing, each and every day. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of golfing with friends, rooting for his favorite sports teams, playing softball, and collecting stamps. Quick witted and full of fun, Kenny never missed the opportunity for a one liner.
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, and uncle, Kenneth is sorely missed by his family and many many friends.
A celebration of Kenneth's life will be held at Flanner Buchanan's Broad Ripple Village location Friday, November 21, 2014 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Indianapolis Legal Aid Society or to The St. Vincent Foundation, Caring Angel Program.
