Kenneth “Kenny” Wayne Lawrence, age 70 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Thursday morning, June 19, 2025.

Cremation Rites have been accorded. A private inurnment graveside service will be held at a later date at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis, where Kenny will be laid to rest with his parents.

Kenny was born on August 21, 1954 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a son of Malcolm and Virginia Louise (Thompson) Lawrence. He is preceded in death by his father Malcolm in 2009 and his mother Virginia in 2018.

Kenny was the youngest of four children. His oldest brother Steve Lawrence precedes him in death. He is survived by his sister Jackie (husband Larry) Reitz of Indianapolis and his brother Tommy (wife Beth) Lawrence of Hamlett, Indiana.

Kenny is survived by one daughter: Kelli (husband Chip) McCormick of Avon, Indiana.

His grandchildren: Savannah Lawrence, Tyler McCormick, Dustin McCormick, Donald McCormick and Daniel McCormick.

Many great grandchildren also survive.

Kenny was raised in Indianapolis on the West side off High School Road. He attended Ben Davis High School, graduating in the class of 1972. During high school Kenny played football.

After high school he directly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving for three years.

After discharge from the Marine Corps, he then began his professional working career with Conrail in 1976 which is the year that Conrail opened. He worked in the railroad profession his entire career, working there for nearly 40 years until he retired around 2015.

Kenny loved fishing for bass and crappie, deer hunting, and spending time on the lake on his pontoon boat. Throughout the years he attended countless fishing tournaments and greatly enjoyed camping.

Most importantly Kenny was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, family member and friend to many. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
