Kenneth "Ken" William Kolmerten

Kenneth W. Kolmerten passed away on 02/13/2026 at the age of 96. Ken was born in Fort Wayne, IN on 09/02/1929 to Elmer and Emma Kolmerten, who preceded him in death. His brother Stanley (Cleo) Kolmerten, sister Dorothy Kolmerten, and his wife of 38 years, Ann, also preceded him in death.

Ken was a graduate of Purdue University. He served in the Marines during Korea, and was past President of the Indianapolis Jazz Club.

He was active in the Optimist Club of Indianapolis, serving as President of the Club as well as Govenor of the Indiana South District of Optimist International.

Ken was a charter member of the Zionsville Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder.

He is survived by his children Karla (Jim) Powell and Fritz (Nancy) Kolmerten as well as step-child Larry (Jean) Gerhart. Step-Children John (Carolyn) Gerhart and Bonnie (David) Nuccio preceded him in death. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be on 02/19/2026 at the Zionsville Presbyterian Church. Visitation is at 1:00 pm with the service at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Indianapolis Optimist Foundation or the Zionsville Presbyterian Church.
