Kenneth Allen Cassida (Bud)

91, a longtime resident of Indianapolis left this world for his heavenly home on May 6, 2018.  He was born October 7, 1926 in Gosport, Indiana to the late Ezra Bert and Inez Violet (Stwalley) Cassida.

His formative years were spent in Owen County where he attended Cloverdale High School.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army in Japan and was honorably discharged in 1947.  He moved to Indianapolis in the late 1940’s.

He married Elizabeth Eileen (Evans) on September 19, 1948 and they were happily married for 68 years.

He worked as a machinist at Navistar, formerly International Harvester, with 44 years of service, retiring in 1988.

His favorite pastimes were watching his beloved Indiana Pacers, working brain game puzzles, playing golf and taking pride in the care of his lawn.

He was a devoted Husband, Caretaker, Dad, Brother, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa and a good friend to many.  All will miss him as he is in each of our hearts forever.

Survivors include his daughters, Carolyn Lyke (Lon) of Indianapolis, Cathy Harvey of Camby, his son, Kenneth Ray Cassida (Donna) of Speedway, his sister, Helen Pigg of West Lafayette, 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth, his parents, and brother, Melvin Cassida.

The Cassida family would like to extend their gratitude to the health care professionals for the care he received throughout his journey.

Friends may visit with his family from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Flanner Buchanan-Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis.  Place of interment: Cloverdale Cemetery, Cloverdale, Indiana.  Contributions may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
